ABOUT THE SURGERY
Breast enlargement with silicone implants is one of the most common plastic surgeries. It’s often chosen to restore or enhance breast shape and size, especially after breastfeeding, weight loss, hormonal changes, or aging.
IMPLANT PLACEMENT
Implants can be placed in one of two ways:
- Over the Muscle (Subglandular): Placed under the mammary gland.
- Under the Muscle (Submuscular): Placed beneath the breast muscles.
The surgeon will recommend the best method based on your body’s medical indices to achieve the most aesthetic result.

IMPLANT SELECTION
Mentor – USA MemoryGel® implants are filled with highly cohesive silicone. They come in various profiles (high, medium, low), surface textures (textured or smooth), and shapes (teardrop/anatomic or round). Your surgeon will help you choose the right implant based on your anatomy and preferences.
BEFORE THE SURGERY
- 10 Days Before: Discontinue aspirin, herbal teas, vitamins, and blood thinners.
- 8 Hours Before: Avoid smoking, food, and liquids.
- On the Day: You’ll undergo the necessary medical tests and have a final consultation with your surgeon.
RISKS
Silicone implants have been proven safe through numerous studies and are not linked to breast cancer. However, potential risks include:
- Bleeding
- Infection
- Loss of nipple sensitivity
- Implant rupture
- Capsular contracture
THE SURGERY
Breast augmentation is performed under general anesthesia and usually takes about an hour. You’ll stay in the clinic for one day under continuous medical supervision. The surgery uses dissolvable stitches that do not require removal, and no dressing changes are needed thanks to protective stickers.
RECOVERY
Post-surgery, you may experience:
- Temporary bleeding
- Swelling and discomfort
- Pain
- Temporary or permanent changes in nipple sensitivity
- Numbness
These symptoms are most intense in the first 2-5 days and typically subside over time. Full nipple sensitivity usually returns within 6 weeks to 6 months. You can return to work within 1-2 weeks and resume heavy physical activities after a month. Scars may take several months to a year to fade.
During the first month, you must wear a special bra continuously and avoid sleeping on your stomach.
