ABOUT THE SURGERY
A facelift is a surgical procedure designed to rejuvenate the face by tightening both the skin and the underlying layers. The extended version of the surgery can also address neck wrinkles if needed. This complex operation is performed under general anesthesia and typically lasts between 3 to 6 hours.
WHEN IS A FACELIFT NECESSARY?
Facelifts are generally recommended for:
- Women over 45 and men over 55
- Patients with minimal subcutaneous fat in the facial area
- Cases where there is more than 1 cm of excess skin on the face
BEFORE THE SURGERY
- 10 Days Before: Stop taking aspirin, herbal teas, vitamins, and blood thinners.
- 8 Hours Before: Avoid smoking, food, and liquids.

RISKS
Potential risks include:
- Temporary facial nerve damage due to swelling or a peripheral lesion, which typically resolves post-operation.
- Infection as a postoperative risk.
- Scarring, though minimal and usually hidden behind the ear or in the hairline.
RECOVERY
Post-surgery, you may experience:
- Temporary bruising, swelling, numbness, and pain.
- Swelling peaks around 4-5 days post-operation and usually subsides by day 10.
- Any bruising typically fades within 10-12 days.
- You can usually return to work and normal activities within 2 weeks.
